The Biden Administration announced a target goal of delivering at least one vaccination dose to 70% of American adults by July 4. Whether or not this timeline is achievable remains to be seen. Currently, 131,078,608 people have been fully vaccinated, or 40.1% of the U.S. population.

So far, states have largely managed their own vaccination coordination efforts — and some have proven more efficient at it than others. In Pennsylvania, 42.0% of the population are fully vaccinated, higher than the U.S. average.

Though Pennsylvania is doing a better job vaccinating its population than other states, there still appears to be some room for improvement. As of May 25, Pennsylvania has received about 14,707,400 vaccinations and administered about 83.1% of those doses.

As the virus mutates and new variants spread, vaccinating the population as rapidly as possible is critical. In total, there have been 1,195,869 confirmed cases of the virus in Pennsylvania as of May 25 — or 9,338 for every 100,000 people. For context, there have been 10,025 known infections for every 100,000 people nationwide.
