Today Mayor George C. Brown presented a proclamation and a Key to the City to Dorothy Lynn Owens 50 for years of service, support, and dedication to the community and the City of Wilkes-Barre. Owens of Wilkes-Barre is affectionately known as “Cis” to her friends and coworkers. She is the mother of Jacob Owens Sidloski, Florida.
Owens began her career with the City of Wilkes-Barre on January 1st, 1971 as a secretary in the department of City Housing Inspection. She has held her current position as the Wilkes-Barre City Fire Department Office Manager for 24 years. Her responsibilities as office manager include; coordinating ambulance billing with the city’s ambulance billing vendor; responding to information requested by Fire/EMS, management of the Fire/EMS Clothing Fund, producing Fire Department Daily Fire Reporting Audits, and management of over 12,000 Fire and Emergency Medical Service reports annually.

Fire Chief Jay Delaney said that Owens is “a great employee and would be very hard to replace. She possesses a great attitude at the fire department and is extremely friendly and professional to all of the contacts made to the Fire Department”.
