RI Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse Named Pallbearer At McCain's Funeral

PROVIDENCE, RI — The late Sen. John McCain's family named U.S. Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse of Rhode Island a pallbearer for Saturday's funeral.

Whitehouse will be one of 15 pallbearers for McCain's memorial service at Washington National Cathedral. He told the Associated Press that having this honor is a "treasured gift."

McCain, the former six term senator from Arizona died Saturday, succumbing to a battle with brain cancer. On Friday, he will lie in state at the U.S. Capitol Building. McCain will be buried on Sunday at the U.S. Naval Academy. The burial will be a private service.
