Association of Migraine Disorders to Host Panel Discussion on Latest Treatments and Research

June 23 Event is Free and Open to the Public

The Association of Migraine Disorders (AMD) will host a panel discussion on “Hot Topics in Migraine,” featuring internationally renowned experts sharing the latest news in migraine treatments and research. The forum, which is free and open to the public, will be held on Friday, June 23 at 4:30 in East Providence.

The speakers will include Professor Lyn Griffiths, PhD of Australia, who will discuss her research on genetic testing for migraines and Anne St Goar, M.D., of Massachusetts, will speak about Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) for PTSD. Researcher Robert Shapiro, M.D. of Vermont will address the need for more Federal research funding. Brian McGeeney, M.D. of Massachusetts will discuss the use of marijuana for the treatment of migraine. The final panelist will be Richard Boles, M.D., Medical Director of Courtagen Life Sciences Inc., who will speak about newly available genetic testing for migraine disease using the latest Next Generation Sequencing which can provide custom reports to assist doctors in making informed treatment recommendations.

“Hot Topics in Migraine” panel discussion will be held from 4:30 until 6 p.m. at the Squantum Association, 947 Veterans Memorial Parkway, East Providence. Seating is limited and advanced reservations are suggested. To reserve a seat, call 401-855-6249 or email fundraiser@migrainedisorders.org.

Immediately following the panel discussion, the Association will be holding a separate fundraising and networking event, the Mad Hatter Award Dinner, to support the nonprofit’s migraine research fellowship at the Brown Institute for Brain Science.
