Barrington Alumna Kerry Eller Chosen As A Truman Scholar
The Barrington graduate is working toward her bioengineering doctorate at Northeastern University.

BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington High alumna Kerry Eller has been named a 2020 Truman Scholar-Athlete. The Northeastern University student is majoring in bioengineering and minoring in political science, and plans to pursue a career in public health service.
Eller was chosen as one of the 62 exceptional college students from 55 U.S. colleges and universities who have been selected as 2020 Truman Scholars. The Truman Scholarship is the premier graduate scholarship for aspiring public service leaders in the United States.
Eller has dedicated herself to fostering innovation in and development of medical technologies for low-resource countries. She has conducted health research on meniscal tears, assays for visual impairment models in zebrafish and the musculoskeletal effects of obesity.

She has worked at the Universidad del Desarrollo in Santiago, Chile, to track vector-borne illness and monitor pesticide exposure in agricultural workers. Dedicated to global health, she aims to complete a PhD in bioengineering and to pursue a career working with communities around the world to develop culturally appropriate technologies that expand access to health care.
