Barrington Fire, Paramedics Save Life Of Unresponsive Infant
Barrington firefighters and paramedics successfully revived a 2-month-old with no pulse or respiration last week.

BARRINGTON, RI – Barrington firefighters and paramedic personnel used chest compressions and defibrillation pads to successfully revive an unresponsive infant during a tense call last week. Barrington fire said they were able to restore the pulse of the infant in an ambulance and that the infant was in good condition after being transported to Good Shepherd Hospital.
Barrington's Andrew Teuber, Beau Sanchez, Bruce Peterson, Ben Oros and Lt. Mike Brown are credited with helping to save the infant’s life after they responded to a report of an unconscious child with no pulse or respiration. The mother said the infant had been crying before becoming limp in her arms. She said there was no past medical history, was not recently sick and had experienced a normal child birth.
Chest compressions were begun with assisted ventilation when it was determined there was no airway obstruction. After defibrillation, there was an immediate return of a pulse and improvement of skin color. When the infant arrived at the hospital, all limbs were moving and independent breathing had resumed.
