Barrington High School Math Team Wins Statewide Competition

The win marks the team's 19th state title in the last 22 years.

BARRINGTON, RI — The Barrington High School math team, known as The Eagles, recently won the state championship, marking their 19th state title in the last 22 years, reported East Bay Newspapers.

Led by coach Bob Marley, The Eagles finished the competition with 276 total points, outscoring the second place team, Cumberland High School, by over 100 points.

Twenty-three students participated in the Barrington High School math team this year, including the school's A team of Jessica Liang, Mitchell Salomon, Hannah Bai, Kamran Pahlavi and Vignesh Peddi.

Individual members of the Barrington team also received trophies for placing in the top 10 in the state. Eighth-grader Athena Gao had the highest score in the state with a score of 58 points, Pahlavi placed fourth in the state and was the top sophomore, Liang placed fifth and was the top senior, Peddi placed sixth, Xiong placed eighth, and Salomon placed ninth.
