BARRINGTON, RI – The Barrington Little League team broke through for its first Little League World Series victory and kept its season alive on Saturday afternoon with a 6-1 triumph against Kentucky. The Rhode Island state champions needed a win to extend their special summer after dropping the rain-postponed Little League World Series opener on Friday.

Barrington next plays Monday at 3 p.m. in Williamsport, Pennsylvania against either Hawaii or New Jersey.

Barrington did not get a hit in its 3-0 loss to Virginia. But Team New England was able to break through when Lucas Tanous and Owen Pfeffer had back-to-back hits and Mason Crain followed with an RBI single for a 1-0 lead in the third inning. Kentucky tied the game in the top of the fourth, then Barrington jumped back in front when Tanous blasted a two-run double as part of a four-run inning for a 5-1 lead.
