Barrington Market Still Strong & Prices Are Fair: Realtor Says
Sellers may hold out for their price because the inventory is low, says Christina Ardente, realtor with Residential Properties, Ltd.

BARRINGTON, RI — The Rhode Island housing market in November again showed signs of strength not seen since the collapse in 2009, according to the latest statistics from the state realtors association. Statewide, sales jumped by 19 percent compared to November a year ago.
But what does that mean for potential buyers and sellers in Barrington?
Christina Ardente, realtor with Residential Properties, Ltd., says "prices are fair" to buyers and sellers. Currently, Barrington has 112 active listings.

"That's not a lot to choose from," she said, and that situation is repeated in many other communities, the realtors association noted.
Ardente just sold a waterfront home in Rumstick Point for $2.1 million but added there are small sales as well as big ones.

Most of the activity is coming from people who already live in Barrington, she said. The real estate market is strong here, partly due to the successful school district.
"Sellers are holding out for their price," she said. "They are not jumping at first offers."
No question, the market has improved since the decrease in the number of foreclosures and properties under water.
"I haven't seen many short sales and foreclosures," she said.
Ardente said bottom line is, it's a good time to put a house on the market.
