Barrington Police Chief, Officials Sign 'Commit To Action Pledge'

The pledge includes a commitment to review of Barrington's use-of-force policies.

BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington town officials and Police Chief Dino DeCrescenzo have signed a "Commit To Action Pledge" that includes a review of Barrington use-of-force procedures and a commitment to make changes, if necessary.

"The killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor, Ahmaud Arbery, and the loss of too many Black lives have left our nation anguished and outraged," the pledge states. "More than 1,000 people are killed by police every year in America, and Black people are three times more likely to be killed than White people. Together, we can work to redefine public safety that recognizes the humanity and dignity of every person."

Along with the police use-of-force procedure review, the pledge vows to "engage the Barrington community by including a diverse range of input, experiences and stories in our review."
