Barrington Police Department Appoints New Chief
Maj. Michael Correia will officially begin his new position on June 28.
BARRINGTON, RI — A 34-year veteran of the Providence Police Department has been appointed as the next chief of the Barrington Police Department, reported WPRI.
Maj. Michael Correia, who is taking over for current police chief Dino Decrescenzo, will officially begin his duties as chief on June 28.
Correia is currently the commanding officer of the uniformed division in Providence and oversees a staff of 225 supervisors and officers and 55 civilian employees.

Prior to his time at the Providence Police Department, Correia was a detective commander who oversaw investigations into 80 homicides and eight officer-involved shootings. He has also served as narcotics and organized crime commander, district commander, uniformed division sergeant, and narcotics detective.
