Barrington Public Library To Host Online Podcasting Series
The series will take place on Wednesdays in July and August at 7 p.m.
BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington Public Library, in partnership with Warwick Public Library, is hosting a series of webinars on how to make podcasts on Wednesdays in July and August at 7 p.m.
"Podcasting in Seven Easy Steps: An Online Series" will feature a line-up of podcasters and radio professionals who will teach participants everything they need to know about making their own podcasts.
The series, made possible in part by a grant from the Rhode Island Office of Library & Information Services using funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services, is free and open to the public. Residents who are interested can register here to receive the Zoom link.

The following is a list of the seven steps that will be covered in the series:
- July 7: "What Is a Podcast & Why Make One?" with Jessica D’Avanza and Siobhan Egan, librarians from Barrington Public Library and contributors to Rhody Radio: Rhode Island Library Radio Online.
- July 14: "How to Build Your Podcast & Give Listeners What They Want" with Kristen Meinzer, co-host of the podcasts By the Book, Movie Therapy with Rafer & Kristen, and When Meghan Met Harry and the author of the Audie award-winning book So You Want to Start a Podcast.
- July 21: "How to Write Scripts That Tell Stories" with Jason Moon, host of the investigative podcast Bear Brook from New Hampshire Public Radio.
- July 28: "How to Use Your Voice & Create a Persona" with Professor Tom Shaker, host of The Soul Serenade—a classic soul and funk show from WICN Public Radio and contributor to Rhody Radio.
- August 4: "Tips for Hosting, Co-hosting, and Interviewing Guests" with Ian Donnis, host of the weekly Political Roundtable from The Public’s Radio: Rhode Island Public Radio.
- August 11:"Boost Your Stories with Editing, Music, and Sound Clips" with Alex Borden, former news director and general manager of WQRI Radio and now the podcast producer for Alternative Fictions by Michael Fine.
- Aug 18: "How to Broadcast and Promote Your Podcast" with Maggie Taylor, podcast marketer who specialized in audience development for PRX and its podcast network, Radiotopia.
