Barrington Seeks Firefighter, Police Officer Candidates
Barrington is accepting applications for opening in its fire and police forces through Dec. 13.
BARRINGTON, RI — Barrington is looking for applicants for openings in both its police and fire departments. Applications for both positions will be accepted until Dec. 13.
The Barrington Fire Department is looking for a firefighter with good moral character and judgement, the ability to handle high-pressure situations and who can demonstrate good problem-solving and leadership skills. Starting salary posted is $43,990.97 with regular step increases to $61,261.36
Requirements include applicants being at least 18 years old, having a high school diploma or GED, having a valid motor vehicle license with a good driving record, having a clean criminal history, being currently registered nationally as an EMT and having a valid Rhode Island AFC PPA. Applications are available at the Public Safety Building on Federal Road in Barrington or at the office located at 283 County Road in Barrington.

The application and all documentation must be returned in person by Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. All packages must be complete to be considered.
The Barrington Police Department is also looking for a new officer to work in the town to proactively solve problems and reduce crime in town.

Posted starting salary is $46,013 with regular step increases to $64,827, plus holiday and overtime.
Requirements include two years of college study with completion of at least 60 credits, two years of honorable active military service or four years of honorable National Guard Service. Applicants must possess a valid driver’s license, must be at least 18 years old, must be a United States citizen and must possess a high school diploma or GED.
