Write Rhode Island is a short fiction writing competition for Rhode Island students co-presented by School One and Goat Hill. The goal of Write Rhode Island is to promote and celebrate the works of students by incorporating Rhode Island as a theme in a creative piece of prose. This year, Write Rhode Island received more than 150 submissions. Judges selected 20 students from across the state, the top three winners received a cash prize and all were honored in March at a celebration at the Newport Art Museum.
"Write Rhode Island fosters reading, writing and creativity. It gives young writers an opportunity for self-expression and a chance to be recognized by their peers and the larger writing community. Having our students read their work as part of FRINGEPVD is an opportunity for their voices to be heard," said Diana Champa, Director of Literary Engagement, School One. School One is one of the co-creators of
Write Rhode Island. "We’re thrilled to be part of the Festival this year. The students and their families are also very excited.”
