Coronavirus: Barrington Extends Emergency Order To May 8
The Barrington Town Council extended its state of emergency for the next month.
BARRINGTON, RI — The Barrington Town Council announced it has extended its state of emergency declaration through May 8. The decision came after Gov. Gina Raimondo extended closing of nonessential businesses, as well the prohibition of gatherings of more than five people, for another month on Wednesday.
Residents are required to stay home unless they are traveling to work as an essential worker at an essential business, traveling to get necessary supplies such as groceries and medications, or exercising in groups of less than six. Residents are encouraged to work from home whenever possible.
Residents who test positive for the new coronavirus are required to quarantine for 14 days, as are those who are traveling to the town to state from out of state. The exception is for those who briefly travel to Massachusetts for work or supplies.

Restrictions are not lifted for holidays. Resident are required to stay out of all groups of more than five and stand at least 6 feet away from each other in groups of five or less.
Barrington recommends that everyone wears a mask or face covering while out in public to help reduce COVID-19 spread. For the protection of the community, when outside your home please consider covering your mouth and nose with some form of cloth mask.
