Downed Tree Closes Barrington Intersection Wednesday Morning

The intersection of Sherwood Lane and Congress Road was shut down for about two hours predawn Wednesday while crews removed a large tree.

BARRINGTON, RI — A Barrington intersection was shut down for about two hours in the predawn hours Wednesday as crews worked to remove a large tree that blocked the road. Barrington police said about 6 a.m. a large tree came down on communication wires at the intersection of Sherwood Lane and Congress Road.

Police said National Grid arrived on scene shortly after the tree was discovered and began work to remove it and restore the lines. Barrington police said the tree was removed by around 8 a.m. and that crews remained on scene later in the morning doing cleanup.
