Dunkin' Donuts Worker Runs Down Robber, Gets Stabbed: Cops

Rhode Island police said Julio Santana stabbed a Dunkin' Donuts worker who chased him down after Santana stole cash from a Pawtucket store.

PAWTUCKET, RI — A Rhode Island Dunkin' Donuts worker on Wednesday chased down a robber who then stabbed him in the neck, police said. The accused robber, Julio Santana, 22, of Worcester, Massachusetts, was taken into custody and charged with a host of crimes.

Police said the incident happened Wednesday morning in Pawtucket at a Dunkin' Donuts on Cedar Street. Santana loitered in the store for about two hours before approaching the counter, reaching in a register and stealing cash, police said.

"Two staff members gave chase, ultimately catching the suspect a short distance away," Pawtucket police said in a statement. During the struggle, Santana stabbed a 22-year-old male worker in the neck with a pen, police said. The worker's injury was described as minor.

Santana was charged with assault, larceny and disorderly conduct. He was held in custody pending an arraignment Thursday in Providence District Court.
