East Bay Electricity Outage Affects 21,000 Customers

BARRINGTON, RI — More than 21,000 National Grid customers were without power for a short period of time in the East Bay Wednesday afternoon. The widespread outages affected Barrington, Bristol and Warren, with outages being reported across Seekonk and Rehoboth, Massachusetts.

Power was lost around 1 p.m. on Wednesday. According to National Grid Rhode Island spokesperson Ted Kresse, the outage lasted for approximately 20 minutes. The company is still trying to determine the cause. In all, approximately 33,000 Rhode Island and Massachusetts customers were affected.
