3 Rhode Islanders Killed In Wrong-Way CT Highway Crash
A 17-year old girl from Westerly and two people from West Warwick were killed in a wrong-way crash in North Stonington.
WEST WARWICK, RI — Three Rhode Island residents were killed in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 95 North in North Stonington, Connecticut on Wednesday evening. Seventeen-year-old Abygayl Lanphear entered the highway the wrong way and crashed head-on into a car carrying a West Warwick family — killing the teen driver and the front-seat passengers of the other car.
The crash happened just over the Rhode Island-Connecticut border at Exit 93 just before 8 p.m. Lanphear and her passenger, Jada LaBoy, 17, are both from Westerly. LaBoy was seriously injured. Neither was wearing a seat belt, according to Connecticut State Police.
There were four people in the second vehicle. The driver and front-seat passenger, Roger A. Noel, 85, and Dorothy Noel, 83, of West Warwick, were killed. Fifty-six-year-old Yvonne Noel, also of West Warwick, was seriously injured, while 62-year-old Cynthia Plasiak sustained minor injuries.

The crash closed the highway in both directions.
