Coventry Police Save Turtle Found Inside Frozen Tank
Police say the home was vacant for several days, and the turtle was found cocooned inside a frozen fish tank. The owner is facing charges.

COVENTRY, RI—Police are looking for a 24-year-old man who allegedly abandoned a dog and a turtle in a mobile home sometime around Feb. 1. Luis Rosa is wanted on animal cruelty charges. According to police, officers went to a home in Maple Root Village, which is a mobile home park on Nooseneck Hill Road, to investigate a complaint about an abandoned animal. They found the home vacant. They also found a frozen solid fish tank with a turtle inside and a dog "in deplorable conditions." There was no word about the dog's condition, but the turtle, now named Elsa after the Frozen heroine, is recovering, police said. Police said they let the tank thaw overnight. The turtle moved when officers tried to lift it out of the tank and they realized it was still alive.
