Coventry Awarded 2 State PreK Classrooms

Applications for the statewide preschool lottery will be accepted until July 5.

COVENTRY, RI — The statewide preschool lottery is open, and Coventry schools have been awarded two state classrooms, pending grant funding. Lottery applications will be accepted until July 5.

Coventry is one of 16 communities in the statewide preschool program: Central Falls, Cranston, East Providence, Johnston, Middletown, Newport, North Kingstown, North Providence, Pawtucket, Providence, Warren, Warwick, Westerly, West Warwick and Woonsocket. Eligible children must be a resident of one of these cities or towns and be four years old by Sept. 1.

The department is expanding the program this year by 17 classrooms and 334 seats, bringing the total classrooms to 95 and 1,754 total children. Both of Coventry's classrooms will be at Washington Oak Elementary, Superintendent Craig Levis said.

Families can submit their application online or download a paper copy. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. on July 5.
