Coventry District 5 Primary Results 2020: Mail Ballots Counted

Kimberly Shockley and incumbent Debra Bacon recevied the most votes.

COVENTRY, RI — The results are in for Rhode Island's primary election, including thousands of mail- ballots not included in the initial results on Tuesday night. In Coventry's District 5 Town Council race, three candidates faced off for two spots in November's general election.

On election night, the Rhode Island Board of Elections posted unofficial results based on in-person ballots cast at the polls. Thursday evening, the department updated results to include mail ballot counts. Coventry's results are available online, with vote counts broken down by mail, in-person and emergency ballots.

Kimberley Shockley led the pack with more than half the votes, followed by incumbent Debra Bacon. The winner in the general election will serve a four-year term on the Town Council.

Results are posted below, with the top candidates are marked in bold. The results from the Board of Elections were considered unofficial as of Thursday night, and represent 100 percent of the town's precincts.

  • Kimberly A. Shockley — 328 votes, 51.2%
  • Debra L. Bacon — 231 votes, 36%
  • Seth A. Kerstetter — 82 votes, 12.8%
