Shockley Leads Coventry's District 5 Town Council Primary
Incumbent Debra Bacon is behind challenger Kimberly Shockley with mail-in votes yet to be counted.

COVENTRY, RI — The preliminary results are in for the Town Council primary in Coventry's District 5. According to the Rhode Island Board of Elections, Kimberly Shockley leads the field of three candidates, with mail-in votes yet to be counted.
Incumbent Debra Bacon is 75 votes behind. Tuesday's primary will only knock one candidate out and send the remaining two to the general election. If the results hold, Shockley and Bacon will move on to the general election.
The winner will serve a four-year term on the Town Council.

- Seth A. Kerstetter – 49 votes, 13.2 percent
- Kimberly A. Shockley – 199 votes, 53.5 percent
- Debra L. Bacon – 124 votes, 33.3 percent
