Coventry Police Find Stolen Car, Arrest Two Juveniles

Police said the car crashed into a utility pole. The driver and passenger ran, but police collared them.

COVENTRY, RI—A report about a car accident led police to find a stolen car and ultimately collar two youngsters who ran away after the crash. According to police, officers were called to 15 Ray St. for a report about a car hitting a National Grid utility pole around 12:48 p.m. The car was in the woods at the end of the road, police learned. Before officers arrived, two youngsters ran away. They had been with the car.

Then police found out West Warwick police had been chasing that car and tried to stop it before it went into Coventry. The reason for the chase? Police suspected the car had been stolen from Pawtucket.

Witnesses gave police a description of the two youngsters. They were caught nearby not long after. Police are not releasing their names because they are juveniles. No word yet about charges. The investigation is ongoing, police said.
