COVENTRY, RI — Your kids might not want to admit it, but the end of summer vacation is almost here, and the first day of school is coming up fast. As you enjoy your last weeks at the beach and start back-to-school shopping, here are five dates to know headed into the new school year.

  1. First Day of School: August 29
  2. Labor Day: September 2, no school.
  3. Open House
    1. Washington Oak Elementary: September 26
    2. Hopkins Hill Elementary: September 17
    3. Blackrock Elementary: September 19
    4. Tiogue Elementary: September 24
    5. Western Coventry Elementary: September 25
    6. Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry, Sixth Grade: September 11
    7. Alan Shawn Feinstein Middle School of Coventry, Seventh and Eigth Grade: September 12
    8. High school: September 18
  4. Picture Day
    1. Washington Oak Elementary: September 19
    2. Hopkins Hill Elementary: September 24
    3. Blackrock Elementary: September 26
    4. Tiogue Elementary: October 1
    5. Western Coventry Elementary: October 30
  5. Columbus Day: No school October 14.
