Coventry Tax Bills Mailed Out; Car Tax Delayed
Because the budget was rejected, bills were calculated based on last year's rates.
COVENTRY, RI — Coventry tax bills are on their way to residents. Because the budget was rejected on June 16, the tax bills were calculated based off of last year's rates.
"When a budget is passed by the voters, a new bill will be calculated and sent to those not on the tax freeze, based on the new levy," the town said in a statement.
At this time, motor vehicle tax bills have not been mailed. The town is waiting for guidance from the state about the car tax phaseout plan before calculating and sending out bills.
