Coventry Toddler Drowns After Falling Into Pool: Police
The two-year-old boy crawled out of a first-floor window and climbed the ladder into the uncovered pool.
COVENTRY, RI — A two-year-old child drowned after falling into a pool at his Coventry home, police said. No charges have been filed against the parents at this time.
Emergency responders were called to the Knotty Oak Shores house just before 1 p.m. on Wednesday for a reported missing child. Police and firefighters found the boy, unconscious, in the pool. He was rushed to Kent County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
According to police, both of the child's parents were at the house at the time. The toddler managed to crawl out of a first-floor window. He then climbed the ladder, which had been left in the uncovered pool.

The Department of Children, Youth and Families was notified of the incident, which is under investigation.
