Coventry's 2020 4th Of July Fireworks Canceled
The Johnson's Pond Civic Association said the coronavirus pandemic made it impossible to hold the display this year.

COVENTRY, RI — July 4 events across the country will not look the same this year thanks to the coronavirus pandemic. Many cities and towns have been forced to cancel the annual Fourth of July events, including in Coventry. The annual fireworks display at Johnson's Pond will not be held this year.
Marc Lemoi, the president of the pond's civic association, said limits on gatherings made it impossible to get the permits necessary to hold the show this year.
"Our primary concern is always the responsibility we feel towards our community and the health and safety of everyone," Lemoi said. "We recognize that it is the right decision based upon the information we have today."
