Crash Cuts Power To 2,600 In South County
A crash at Nooseneck Hill Road and Kitt's Corner road left several thousand residents in the dark.
WEST GREENWICH, RI — More than 2,600 Rhode Island residents lost power on Monday night following a crash on Nooseneck Hill Road. The large, multi-town outage hit much of West Greenwich and the edges of Coventry, Richmond, Exeter and Hopkinton.
According to National Grid, the outage was caused by a crash near the intersection of Nooseneck Hill Road and Kitt's Corner Road around 8:12 p.m. West Greenwich police were unable to provide any further details about the crash.
National Grid crews have been called to the scene and power will be restored "as soon as possible," a company spokesperson said. As of 8:45 p.m., 2,639 customers are in the dark. The interactive outage map shows an estimated restoration time of 10 p.m.
