Dec. 17 Storm: Parking Bans In Place; Schools Delayed, Canceled
Nearly half a dozen cities and towns have parking bans in place ahead of forecasted snow, sleet and freezing rain.

With snow and ice expected to cause a slippery morning commute on Tuesday, several cities and towns across Rhode Island already have parking bans in place. While little snow accumulation is expected, sleet and freezing rain will likely lead to slick roadways.
Students across the state have snow days or delays on Tuesday morning as a coating for ice made for slippery road conditions across the state.
The following cities and towns have parking bans in place for Tuesday:

- Barrington: 12 a.m. to 4 p.m.
- Burrillville: 2 a.m. until further notice
- Coventry: 12 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Cranston: 12 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Cumberland: 12 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- East Greenwich: 12 a.m. until further notice
- Hopkinton: Parking ban until further notice
- Lincoln:12 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Middletown: 12 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- North Kingstown: 12 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- North Smithfield: 12 a.m. to 12 p.m.
- Portsmouth: 1 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Richmond: Parking ban today
- Scituate: 12 a.m. to 3 p.m.
- Smithfield: 5 p.m. Monday until 5 p.m. Tuesday
- South Kingstown: 3 a.m. until further notice
- West Greenwich: Monday night until 5 p.m. Tuesday
- West Warwick: 12 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Woonsocket: 11 p.m. Monday until further notice
Patch will monitor parking bans and any school closings and will update this list.
With slippery conditions likely throughout the morning, the National Weather Service urged drivers to slow down and be extra careful when driving.

On Monday afternoon, the Community College of Rhode Island announced that all daytime exams scheduled for Tuesday will be held on Friday instead. All classes starting at 4 p.m. or later will still be held as scheduled.
