Early-Morning Rollover Closes Tiogue Ave. In Coventry

An early-morning rollover closed Tiogue avenue at Pilgrim Avenue for several hours.

COVENTRY, RI — Tiogue Avenue was briefly closed twice Wednesday morning following an early-morning rollover crash. The road was reopened around two hours after the initial crash, then closed again for about an hour while National Grid made repairs to a downed utility pole.

The crash happened at the intersection of Pilgrim Avenue around 5 a.m. Coventry police said crews were forced to use hydraulic jaws to free the male driver, who was trapped in the vehicle. His condition is not known at this time.

According to police, the road was closed until 6:50 a.m., then briefly closed again from 8:30 a.m. until 9:10 a.m. while National Grid worked on a downed utility pole.
