Man Charged With DUI Had Child In Backseat: Police
Richard Roderick failed a field sobriety test after driving erratically on Nooseneck Hill Road.
COVENTRY, RI — A man suspected of drinking and driving in Coventry had a child sleeping in the backseat of his car, police said Tuesday. The man was pulled over on Nooseneck Hill Road early Friday morning.
According to police, the driver, Richard Roderick, 36, was driving erratically on Nooseneck Hill Road at the entrance to Mapleroot Village around 3 a.m. During the traffic stop, officers noticed a child sleeping in the backseat.
Roderick failed a field sobriety test and was charged with DUI, refusal to submit to a chemical test and driving with a suspended license. He was held as a bail violator and will serve three months in the Adult Correctional Institution in Cranston.
