National Grid: Nor-Easter Could Mean Power Outages Lasting Days
The company says it's been preparing for the storm but warns customers the restoration could take several days.

COVENTRY, RI—National Grid says it has crews ready to deal with the damage from Friday's nor'easter but warns that power outages are likely and restoration could take time. And the work won't begin until "conditions are safe,' the company said. Meanwhile, National Grid offered tips for customers. The first one is never touch a downed power line, even if you think the wire isn't live.
Here are the other tips:
Power problems can sometimes interrupt public water supply systems or disable well pumps, so it’s an especially good idea to keep a supply of bottled drinking water handy, as well as some canned food.

People who depend on electric-powered life support equipment, such as a respirator, should let National Grid know. To register as a life support customer, call the company’s Customer Service Center at 1-800-322-3223.
Check on elderly family members, neighbors and others who may need assistance during an outage period.
