Rhode Island's Snow Day Necessities: Patch Readers Respond
Some say Rhode Islanders are only interested in milk and bread, so we asked real Rhode Islanders what they stock up on before a big storm.
Rhode Island had its first real snowstorm of the season Wednesday into Thursday, with up to a foot or more of snow blanketing the state in less than a day. Before the flakes flew, residents flocked to grocery stores to make sure they had enough supplies to weather the storm while roads were unsafe.
Although it's unlikely that the state will see another Blizzard of '78 situation any time soon, where roads are impassable for days, old habits die hard. Rhode Islanders are known for clearing shelves of bread and milk before snowstorms, but Patch wanted to know: what do people really buy before the snow falls?
Here's a look at some Patch reader responses. What's your go-to storm stockup? Let us know in the comments!
