Rollover Crash Briefly Closes Route 117 In Coventry
Police were forced to close one of Coventry's major roads to clear a rollover crash, causing backups in the area.
COVENTRY, RI — A rollover crash on Coventry's main artery caused major backups heading into Friday's evening commute. Coventry police said the crash was not too serious, but crews had to close Route 117 to traffic for just over an hour to clear the scene.
The crash happened just after 3 p.m. near the intersection of Peckham Road. Coventry police said there did not appear to be any serious injuries and the crash appeared to be worse than it was because it happened on the main road.
The road was closed to traffic in both directions for a little more than an hour while crews worked to clear the scene. It was reopened around 4:30 p.m.
