St. Vincent de Paul Church Welcomes New Pastor

During a ceremony last month, Most Rev. Thomas J. Tobin, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Providence, presided at the Pastor Installation Mass of Rev. Jacek Ploch as pastor of St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Coventry.

Rev. Ploch first attended schools in his native Poland before beginning his seminary training at the Major Seminary of Tarnow. He went on to complete his seminary studies at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary in Orchard Lake, Michigan.

Following his ordination in 2008 in the Cathedral of Saints Peter and Paul in Providence by Bishop Tobin, Father Ploch was appointed assistant pastor of St. Kevin in Warwick. He also served at Immaculate Conception in Westerly for three years as assistant pastor.

St. Vincent de Paul began as St. Anthony’s Mission and established as a parish in 1937 by Bishop Francis Keough. Until the church was built, Masses were held in the Arctic American Legion building with a congregation of 217 families. Today, more than 1,100 parishioners worship in the faith community.
