Stranded Dog Rescued From Water In Coventry

The dog was scared by Fourth of July fireworks and was stuck on an island near Town Farm Road.

COVENTRY, RI — A terrified dog was rescued from the water near Town Farm Road on Friday. Coventry firefighters were able to reach and retrieve the small dog, which was stuck on a small island.

According to Coventry firefighters, the dog, which appears to be a chihuahua, was spooked by Thursday's loud Fourth of July fireworks and ran away, eventually ending up in the water and getting stuck on a small island.

A small boat was dispatched with several firefighters, who were able to successfully bring the dog, which appears to be unharmed, back to shore.
