Lane Shift Going Into Effect On Victory Highway Bridge
Traffic flow will shift to the completed north side of the bridge, allowing crews to demolish and rebuild the south side.

EXETER, R.I. -- As workers move into the second phase of construction on the Victory Highway bridge, lane changes will go into effect by the end of the week. Traffic will be moved to the north side of the bridge.
Two-way traffic will be maintained with the lane change, and all on- and off-ramps will remain accessible. With the shift, traffic will move to the completed side of the bridge as construction moves to the other side for demolition and replacement. The change comes ahead of schedule, as it was anticipated to occur this summer.
According to the Rhode Island Department of Transportation, the Victory Highway bridge was built in 1969 and has been classified as "structurally deficient" since 1995. To allow for continued traffic flow, the $19 million replacement project is being done in stages and is set to be complete in Fall 2020.
