Upcoming Summer Children's Events At The Coventry Public Library

Looking for something fun to do with the kiddos this summer?

COVENTRY, RI — Summer vacation is in full swing, and if you're looking for something fun to do with the kiddos, check out all the upcoming events at the Coventry Public Library. From free movies to battle bots and more, there's something for everyone this summer at the library.

Movies will be shown on the following days at 1 p.m. Pre-registration is not required and popcorn and drinks will be provided.

  • July 8: Wall E (Rated G)
  • July 15: Space Buddies (Rated G)
  • July 29: E.T.: the Extra-Terrestrial (Rated PG)
  • August 5: Muppets From Space (Rated G)

Other events will be held at the library throughout the summer. For events requiring pre-registration, call 401-822-9102 or sign up in person at the library.

July 16: The "Fiddle 'n Fun" music program will be held for kids aged five to 12. The show will feature fiddling and songs and children will have the chance to play Fiddlestix themselves. Pre-registration is not required.

July 23: Battle Bots, Grade 5 through 12, run by Brian Kampper of Mobile Quest. Pre-registration required.

July 30: Minecraft gaming night, Grades 1 through 5. Play at 4:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m. or 6:30 p.m. Space is limited, so pre-registration is recommended.

July 31: Dinoman Space at 6:15 p.m. This fast-paced program will lead participants ages five through 12 on an adventure through the solar system using giant inflatable dinosaurs! No pre-registration required. Call 822-9102 for additional information.

August 1: "Of Of This World" space party at 1:30 p.m. Children ages five and up are invited to play space bingo, make space crafts, play games and launch stomp rockets on the front lawn. Refreshments will be served. Pre-registration required.

August 7: Dave Marchetti's Animal Experiences at 2 p.m. Children will have the chance to see, touch and hold animals. No registration required.

August 13: Teen Meteor Shower Party, 12:30 p.m. Grades 6 through 12 are invited to enjoy pizza, crafts and games. No registration required.

August 15: Circus Dynamics show at 2 p.m. for ages five and up. This fun-filled show consists of space-themed juggling, hula hoops, flag spinning, slinky tricks and balloon twisting. No registration required.

August 21: American Red Cross Babysitter Training Course from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Ages 11 through 16 are invited to attend. Registration begins August 5 and a non-refundable fee of $90 is required at the time of registration.
