COVENTRY, RI — A West Warwick woman is facing charges after police say she lit several towels on fire inside the Coventry Walmart. Logan Barboza, 22, of Setian Lane, was charged with first-degree arson.

The incident happened on Friday around 2 p.m., when a fire was reported inside the store. Police and fire officials declared the cause of the fire suspicious and began an arson investigation with the office of the state fire marshal. Video surveillance showed what appeared to be the person responsible, and police asked the public for assistance in identifying them.

Barboza was processed at Coventry police headquarters and released pending a formal arraignment in 3rd District Court in Warwick.

"The Coventry Police Department would like to thank the members of the public who were courageous enough to help extinguish the fire, averting any tragic outcome; as well as those who came forward with tips during this investigation," the department said in a statement.
