When Will Power Come Back In Coventry?
Rhode Island is recovering after a powerful nor'easter slammed the region, knocking down trees and power lines across the state.

COVENTRY, RI — Thousands of Rhode Islanders remain without power in the wake of a powerful storm that downed trees and power lines across the state. Coventry fared better than much of the rest of the state: just under 250 residents were in the dark as of Thursday night.
Check the status of an outage using National Grid's interactive outage map. As is the case across the state, the remaining outages are labeled "unassigned" with an estimated restoration time of 11 p.m. on Saturday.
In Coventry and across the state, crews have worked around the clock to clear roads blocked by downed trees. On Thursday morning, Coventry police asked drivers to leave extra time when heading out, as several roads across the town were impassable.

The storm slammed the state overnight from Wednesday into Thursday, with howling winds peaking at 70 mph in the southern, coast part of the state.

National Grid said that more than 1,100 personnel were deployed across New England, but continually strong winds throughout the day on Thursday slowed restoration efforts.

"While the toughest weather is behind us, high winds with gusts of 40-60 mph persist in New England. Remember, our crews cannot work when winds exceed 35 mph," the company wrote.
