Alvin Campbell Of Cumberland Accused Of 9th Boston Rape
Campbell posed as a fake Uber driver and targeted intoxicated women at bars who had summoned a ride share, prosecutors say.

BOSTON — A Rhode Island man already accused of raping eight women in Boston after posing as an Uber driver is now accused of raping a ninth woman, also in the Massachusetts city.
Alvin Campbell, 39, of Cumberland, was arraigned yesterday on new indictments charging three counts of rape and two counts of filming an unsuspecting nude person, Suffolk County District Attorney Rachael Rollins announced.

Campbell was charged in January with posing as an Uber driver to kidnap and rape a woman after she left a Boston bar. Investigators said the woman had no memory until she woke up at his home in Cumberland.
New video evidence allegedly shows Campbell repeatedly raping an unconscious victim in June 2018, the DA's office said. The new evidence was found after police obtained a warrant to conduct a cloud search linked to Campbell’s cellphone.

Campbell is accused of similar crimes against seven other women. Investigators say Campbell is a serial rapist who targeted women outside bars who were intoxicated and had summoned a ride share. Campbell last worked for Uber in 2016, but when his vehicle was seized, it was still covered with Uber stickers and logos, according to the prosecutors. The alleged crimes occurred between 2017 and 2019.
“The allegations outlined in each of these cases are extremely disturbing, and the facts are strikingly similar in each of the nine attacks,” said DA Rollins in a release.
Campbell is due for a dangerousness hearing in Suffolk Superior Court in Boston on April 27. He is already held on $25,000 bail. He faces multiple charges of rape, kidnapping, and recording a nude person without consent.
