Arnold Mills Parade & Road Race On For July 5 In Cumberland

Organizers are seeking donations this year to help keep the tradition going.

CUMBERLAND, RI — The Arnold Mills parade and road race are on this year, and the events are set for Monday, July 5. The parade steps off at 11 a.m. while the race begins at 9 a.m., according to The Valley Breeze.

Organizers are looking for volunteers to help out during the popular annual events. They are also looking for "youth groups, marchers, tractors, decorated bicycles, antique and custom cars" to participate in the parade.

Donations are badly needed this year, and organizers are trying to raise $30,000 to $35,000. Tax-deductible contributions may be sent to the Arnold Mills Parade Association, Box 7473, Cumberland, RI 02864.

The first recorded Arnold Mills Parade was held on July 4th, 1927. The Arnold Mills 4-Mile Road Race began in 1969.
