Trio Including Pawtucket Woman Accused Of Murder In Car Shooting
Police say Yazmin Rivera, Devonte Lewis, and Adauris Garcia, each 19, conspired to kill Isaias Bulus in Providence on April 11.

PROVIDENCE, RI — Three teens, including a Pawtucket woman, have been charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy in the April 11 shooting death of Isaias Bulus in Providence.
Yazmin Rivera, 19, allegedly worked with her boyfriend Devonte Lewis, 19, and with his friend Adauris Garcia, 19, to lure Bulus to the area of 230 Atlantic Ave. in Providence and shoot him as he sat behind the wheel of a waiting car.
Rivera was arrested Friday by the Rhode Island State Police Violent Fugitive Task Force, state police said Monday. Lewis was initially arrested May 6 on a narcotics charge while trying to jump from a window at Rivera's apartment at 1 Dexter Court in Pawtucket, police said. Lewis' murder case was referred to a Providence County Grand Jury on Tuesday, court records show. On Tuesday, an order was issued for Garcia's arrest. Each suspect has been ordered held without bail.

Rivera conversed with Bulus on the social media app Snapchat to arrange the meeting where Bulus was slain, police said. Rivera coordinated the killing with Lewis and Garcia, police said, citing cell phone records and surveillance footage. Around 9:45 p.m., Bulus sent Rivera a Snapchat message telling her to "jump in." Seconds later, someone entered the passenger side door of Bulus' parked BMW and shot him once in the chest, the police affidavit said.
Rivera's gray Subaru left Pawtucket at around 9:30 p.m. and arrived at Atlantic Avenue in Providence about 15 minutes later, police allege. A passenger got out of the Subaru, entered the running BMW, and within 17 seconds, shot Bulus, the affidavit said. Lewis and Garcia then allegedly drove the car back to Pawtucket and backed it into a parking spot near Rivera's apartment. Cell phone records placed Rivera at or near her home at the time of the slaying, the affidavit said.
Investigators searched Rivera's apartment and found a box of 9 mm bullets that matched a magazine found inside the car where Bulus was shot. Police said after the killing, Rivera sold her car to CARMAX in North Attleboro. Police allege that Rivera and Lewis discussed how to delete incriminating text messages and threads.
The 2011 black BMW with Connecticut plates where he was killed did not belong to Bulus, the affidavit stated.
Providence police found Bulus' body partially leaning from the open door of the vehicle near 230 Atlantic Ave. around 2 a.m. on April 12 while investigating a report of a suspicious vehicle parked with its engine running. He died at the scene.
Lindsay Lague, public information officer for the Providence Police Department, said Monday she had no information about the case, and did not respond to an email asking if Rivera was a suspect in the Bulus homicide. The Providence police affidavit was provided to Patch by court officials.
A news release from Rhode Island State Police originally identified Rivera as a Cumberland resident.
