2 Families Displaced, 2 Pets Dead Following East Providence Fire

The fire broke out at a home on Second Street at approximately 12:15 p.m. Monday.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — Two families were displaced and two pets died following a fire at a home in East Providence Monday afternoon, reported WPRI.

Firefighters responded to the blaze on Second Street at approximately 12:15 p.m. and attempted to enter the home to rescue a pet, but were unsuccessful. They were able to extinguish the fire quickly despite difficult wind conditions and everyone who was inside at the time made it out safely.

The home sustained significant damage on the first and second floors and the American Red Cross is assisting the residents who have been displaced.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
