Bay View Academy Student Scores National Merit Commendation

BARRINGTON, RI—Sonia Wessen, of Barrington, is a senior at Bay View Academy, and she has been named a Commended Scholar in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program, the school said Monday.

Sonia's score on the 2017 PSAT/NMSQT test ranked among the 50,000 best out of the 1.6 million students in the contest.

"The entire Bay View community is extremely proud of Sonia's recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program," school officials said. "Sonia is a versatile student who excels in both STEM and humanities coursework. She is an active member of the Academy’s Art Club, Zoe Club, and Math Team. She is also involved in visual and performing arts."
