Care New England & Partners Still In Talks
The merger is still alive, both Care New England and Partners HealthCare said Wednesday.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—A deadline was fast approaching for Care New England and Partners HealthCare, which are in talks about a merger. But both sides have agreed to allow extra time to negotiate a deal, they said Wednesday. Here is the joint statement.
Care New England (CNE) and Partners HealthCare today announced they have agreed to extend a letter of intent, set to expire on December 31, through the end of January 2018. The extension also maintains exclusive negotiating terms between the two organizations as they continue to pursue a definitive agreement, with the ultimate intent of CNE becoming a part of Partners. Both CNE and Partners continue to work extremely hard on this complex process and remain optimistic that a definitive agreement will be reached.
