City Of East Providence Renews Contract With SUEZ

The 10-year contract renewal with the water and wastewater service provider will backdate to May 1, 2021.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence has signed a 10-year contract renewal with SUEZ, the city's water and wastewater service provider, said SUEZ in a news release Wednesday.

Under the new $49.8 million contract, SUEZ will be required to make $1 million in capital improvements per year, resolve odor issues, and invest in new technologies to protect the city from sewer overflows and enhance compliance measures.

The City of East Providence looks forward to continuing our relationship with SUEZ,” said Mayor Bob DaSilva in a statement. “I also look forward to seeing the state-of-the-art technology investments in action and the benefits it will bring to our day-to-day lives.”

SUEZ began providing services to the City of East Providence in April 2010. The new contract will backdate to May 1, 2021 and continue to service the 50,000 residents in East Providence and Barrington.
