Dog Attack Kills 15-Month-Old Girl: East Providence Police
Police said the toddler died from injuries she suffered during the attack from a family pit bull on Brookhaven Drive Thursday afternoon.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — A 15-month girl died from injuries she suffered when a family dog attacked her on Brookhaven Drive on Thursday.
East Providence police said life-saving procedures were attempted when they responded to a disturbance call and found her with "significant injuries." She later died from the injuries at Hasbro Children's Hospital.
Two adults who tried to save the girl from the attack were hospitalized with injuries they received from the dog.

The dog, a pit bull-type terrier that lived at the residence, was contained in the backyard before police arrived. East Providence Animal Rescue assisted in euthanizing the dog.
Police said they are not aware of any prior reports of violent behavior from the dog.

East Providence detectives and East Providence Animal Control are investigating further, but no charges have been announced.
