East Providence Launches Community Cleanup Challenge

The cleanup challenge will take place from April 22 to April 25.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence has announced a community cleanup challenge that will take place from April 22 to April 25.

During the four-day challenge, residents are asked to bring a trash bag and gloves with them when they walk the dog or go for a jog or bike ride to stop and help clean up litter in the city.

“While East Providence is so fortunate to have a number of organizations that volunteer and participate in community cleanups each year, we are challenging all of our residents to provide a helping hand in beautifying our city during a four-day community cleanup challenge -#EPTeamUp2Cleanup,” said Mayor Bob DaSilva in a statement.

Volunteers can pick up trash bags and gloves the week of April 19 at the Recycling Office at 60 Commercial Way anytime from 7:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. or at City Hall Lobby from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Residents can also fill out an entry slip to be included in a drawing for a free composting bin.

Filled bags can be brought to the "Earth Day" barrels located at the gates of 60 Commercial Way or be left along a bike path or in the parking area of a bike path. If your cleanup area is in a city park, bags can be left in the parking area marked "Earth Day." Volunteers can also email eprecycle@eastprovidenceri.gov to notify them where the bags are located.
